This action game and movie tie-in title lets you control mutants Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Iceman
Windows 2000 / Windows XP
The X-Men franchise is hot right now, and you can enjoy playing along with your favorite characters in the hit computer game X-Men: The Official Game. Licensed by Marvel, it features some of the most beloved characters in the history of the comic book, including Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine and Nightcrawler. If you loved the films, you'll find that many of the same actors returned to those characters once again for the official game. As you play the game, you'll experience the Marvel world in a new and exciting way.
From the moment the developers released the demo for the game, fans couldn't wait to play it. Though it uses the same voice talent as the films, it strays away from those stories and introduces a new adventure. You can pick and choose from different characters, but you'll also have the option to control some of the top comic book heroes in the history of the franchise and use their skills too. As Iceman, you can produce ice and snow with your hands and launch storms at your foes, and if you play as Nightcrawler, you have the chance to teleport and run through walls to get through the level.
The game also lets you get a better look at some of the settings featured in the films and the comics. Have you ever wondered what the inside of Xavier Mansion looked like without all those mutants running around? Some of the levels take place in the mansion, and you can easily spend a few hours wandering around the area and getting an inside look at the school. Alkali Lake played a pivotal role in both the second and third films and the comic books. It was the place where Jean Gray transformed into the Dark Phoenix. You'll love taking a look at that lake in the game.
A comic book game is only as strong as the villains you face, and you'll come up against some of your favorite enemies in this game. You might fight against Pyro in one level before coming up against Sabretooth and later finish off with an epic battle against Magneto. Even if you are only a casual viewer of the films, you'll recognize nearly every character and setting used in the game.
Like other comic book games, X-Men: The Official Game offers a unique story that you follow as you play, but it also throws in some action and fun missions too. Completing those missions in a short period of time lets you unlock new characters, powers and even levels. If you love the films or read the comic books as a kid, you'll want to get your hands on the characters in this game.
